A Useful Thought Experiment
If one were building the US electric grid from scratch today, what would it look like?
Our thinking about what a Smart Grid can be is unfortunately, but almost certainly limited by what we understand the grid to be today. That in turn limits us to thinking about incremental changes rather than revolutionary ones. If one could start over and build an entirely new grid today, what would it look like?
1. If the emphasis is efficiency?
2. If the emphasis is sustainability?
3. If the emphasis is reliability?
4. If the emphasis is security?
5. If the emphasis is customer service?
